Depression

  • A condition of general emotional dejection and withdrawal; sadness greater and more prolonged than that warranted by any objective reason. A depression so severe as to be considered abnormal, either because of no obvious environmental causes, or because the reaction to unfortunate life circumstances is more intense or prolonged than would generally be expected. It may come as no surprise that the human mind thinks and communicates in a negative manner. If one were to examine one’s own internal dialogue (speaking to yourself in your mind) you will probably find it is around 90% negative. Care should be taken to obtain the “go-ahead” from your GP or other diagnosing professional before retaining the services of a hypnotherapist, however, hypnosis is an extremely powerful tool both in investigating the root causes of depression as well as giving the client the tools (tools which we all have within ourselves) with which to deal with it and reframe any faulty thinking that is feeding the condition.
