More Therapies

  • Whilst hypnosis remains the mainstay of the Insightz Practice, other cutting edge techniques and therapies are also used for the benefit of the client. As per Insightz’ Code of Ethics the therapist is fully trained and competent with these interventions.Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)EFT is a powerful new discovery that combines two well established sciences so you can benefit from both at the same time:

    1. Mind Body Medicine .
    2. Acupuncture (without needles).

In essence, EFT is an emotional version of acupuncture where we stimulate certain meridian points by tapping on them with our fingertips. This addresses negative causes for emotional issues (unbalanced energy meridians). Properly done, this frequently reduces the therapeutic process from months or years down to hours or minutes . And, since emotional stress can contribute to pain, disease and physical ailments, we often find that EFT provides astonishing physical relief.

Cognative Behavioural Therapy (CBT) & Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy (or cognitive behavioral therapies or CBT ) is a psychotherapeutic approach that aims to solve problems concerning dysfunctional emotions, behaviors and cognitions through a goal-oriented, systematic procedure. The title is used in diverse ways to designate behavior therapy , cognitive therapy , and to refer to therapy based upon a combination of basic behavioral and cognitive research.

There is empirical evidence that CBT is effective for the treatment of a variety of problems, including mood, anxiety, personality, eating, substance abuse, and psychotic disorders. Treatment is often manualized, with specific technique-driven brief, direct, and time-limited treatments for specific psychological disorders. CBT is used in individual therapy as well as group settings, and the techniques are often adapted for self-help applications.

Rational emotive behavior therapy ( REBT ), previously called rational therapy and rational emotive therapy , is a comprehensive, active-directive, philosophically and empirically based psychotherapy which focuses on resolving emotional and behavioral problems and disturbances and enabling people to lead happier and more fulfilling lives. REBT was created and developed by the American psychotherapist and psychologist Albert Ellis who was inspired by many of the teachings of Asian , Greek , Roman and modern philosophers. REBT is one form of cognitive behavior therapy ( CBT ) and was first expounded by Ellis in the mid-1950s; development continued until his death in 2007.

    Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)

Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is an approach to psychotherapy and organisational change based on “a model of interpersonal communication chiefly concerned with the relationship between successful patterns of behaviour and the subjective experiences (esp. patterns of thought) underlying them” and “a system of alternative therapy based on this which seeks to educate people in self-awareness and effective communication, and to change their patterns of mental and emotional behaviour”. The co-founders, Richard Bandler and linguist John Grinder, found it could be instrumental in “finding ways to help people have better, fuller and richer lives”. They coined the title to denote their belief in a connection between neurological processes (‘neuro’), language (‘linguistic’) and behavioral patterns that have been learned through experience (‘programming’) and that can be organised to achieve specific goals in life.

NLP Was developed by “modelling” the successes achieved by three highly successful therapists, namely: Milton Erickson (forefather of modern day hypnotic techniques), Virginia Satir (a highly successful family therapist) and Fritz Perls (the originator of Gestalt or “Parts” Therapy.

NLP was originally promoted by its co-founders in the 1970s as an effective and rapid form of psychological therapy , capable of addressing the full range of problems which psychologists are likely to encounter, such as phobias , depression , habit disorder , psychosomatic illnesses and learning disorders. It also espouses the potential for self-determination through overcoming learned limitations and emphasized well-being and healthy functioning. Later, it hhas been promoted as a ‘science of excellence’, derived from the study or ‘modeling’ of how successful or outstanding people in different fields obtain their results. These skills can be learned by anyone to improve their effectiveness both personally and professionally.

Despite its popularity, NLP has been largely ignored by conventional social science because of issues of professional credibility and insufficient empirical evidence to substantiate its models and claimed effectiveness. It appears to have little impact on academic psychology, and limited impact on mainstream psychotherapy and counselling. However, it had some influence among private psychotherapists, including hypnotherapists, to the extent that some claim to be trained in NLP and apply it to their practice. NLP had greater influence in management training , life coaching , and the self-help industry.

    Cell Command Therapy (CCT)™

Cell Command Therapy™ for healing is the use of specialized techniques of hypnosis for healing of the body, mind and spirit, either as a form of direct hypnosis or as an adjunct to assist any other kind of intervention.

It has been known for years that hypnosis or direct suggestion can cause physical and mental changes in a person that can result in healings. The Cell Command Therapy™ and Cellular Releasing© approach takes this hypnosis two steps further by first releasing the blocks and causes before beginning the hypnotic changes to the mind for healing and perfect health. The second additional step is the cellular regeneration programming done in deep trance that causes the restoring of that part of the body to health.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing ( EMDR ) is a form of psychotherapy that was developed to resolve symptoms resulting from disturbing and unresolved life experiences. It uses a structured approach to address past, present, and future aspects of disturbing memories. The approach was developed by Francine Shapiro to resolve the development of trauma-related disorders as resulting from exposure to a traumatic or distressing event, such as rape or military combat. Clinical trials have been conducted to assess EMDR’s efficacy in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In some studies it has been shown to be equivalent to cognitive behavioral therapy and exposure therapies , and more effective than some alternative treatments. Although some clinicians may use EMDR for various problems, its research support is primarily for disorders stemming from distressing life experiences.

    Life Coaching

Life Coaching is a future-focused practice with the aim of helping clients determine and achieve personal goals. There are several methods to assist clients in setting and reaching their goals. Although “stand-alone” Life Coaches are not therapists nor consultants and psychological intervention and business analysis are outside the scope of their tasking, Life Coaching methods can and are successfully utilised in conjunction with other interventions to foster therapeutic change.

Life coaching has its roots in executive coaching, which itself drew on techniques developed in management consulting and leadership training. Life coaching also draws inspiration from disciplines including sociology , psychology , positive adult development , career counseling, mentoring and other types of counseling . Contemporary life coaching can also be traced to the teachings of Benjamin Karter, a college football coach turned motivational speaker of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The coach may apply mentoring, values assessment, behavior modification , behavior modeling, goal-setting and other techniques in helping their clients.

Regression Therapy including Past Life (PLR)

Regression Therapy has a holistic view of the mind, body and spirit having a fundamental interconnectedness. Healing involves reconnection with the root cause of the problem and allowing the client to understand deeply the issues associated with the problem before they are resolved at both physical, emotional and a spiritual level. Sometimes the root cause is a traumatic experience below the level of conscious awareness and has been affecting the client’s well being. Client experiences may go back to early childhood and prenatal experiences or into stories from the subconscious that may appear to be a past life. Any client experience is treated in an accepting and authentic way. Various psychotherapies may be used in the regression process such as hypnosis, gestalt psychology , psychodrama, body therapy, together with various transpersonal and energy techniques.
